  • Help - new Cherry tree, leaf problem

I bought a new cherry tree from a nursery end of march and it appears to have been doing well. It was root stock and the nursery guaranteed it virus free. Can Anyone tell me what is now causing the problem show in these pictures. the leaves are now very ragged and holey and appears to be getting worse by the day. I can see no signs of insect or caterpillars.

    Thanks helen

Capsid bug, slugworm, leaf skeletoniser or random species of caterpillars.

As long as no more than one-third of the leaf area gets destroyed, the plants can continue growing fairly normally, so I wouldn't worry about it, since if you can't find the cause after a thorough inspection, there can't be many of them.
I'd let the natural predators come along and eat the bugs that are causing it. The problem will probably go away, once the larva mature - if they're not eaten by birds first.
