Hi can anyone please advise me where to get grease bands from and how and when to use them on a plum tree ? atb Dal.

I think you are a bit late, they usually go on in the Autumn and according to this not much use for Plums

used to be v popular at one time - will still do a job with plum moth as one sex is flightless from memory

Smooth the bark on the trunk first if rough
make sure there aren't any other routes up to the branches ie if the tree is touching a fence, cut it back
get the band on real tight about 18" off the ground - use extra string if needed
make sure the sticky surface is a continuous band
keep an eye on it so that grass or dead leaves aren't left sticking to it
take it off at the end of May and either burn it or bin it.

No worries - I know you can buy tubs of fruit tree grease - I'd start with Ebay or amazon as an indicator of price - if you buy the grease like that it would then be possible to wrap the trunk with something like cling film and brush the grease on to that - not sure about bands ready prepared, haven't seen those for ages.

Grease Tribute Band, Duo or with Dancers

              is this what you want?

On a more serious note, I have put my pear trees in this spring, should I have greased them this year?

To the best of my knowledge most of the problem bugs that can affect pears can fly - so no I wouldn't bother with grease bands on them.
