  • Fruit Trees Losing Leaves and Blossom from the Centre Outwards

    Hello,

I am looking for advice as to what may be affecting some of my fruit trees. I currently have a Crab Apple (plenty of fruit last year), Mirabelle (couple of years old) and Aprimira (couple of years old) all similarly affected. They are all being grown in containers.

The trees have lost their leaves and blossoms/fruitlets from the centre outwards towards the tips. The trees were all in full bloom with leaves and blossom and plenty of fruitlets beginning to form 3 weeks ago, then over the course of the last couple of weeks they have rapidly lost their leaves and it now looks like they are losing their blossoms/fruitlets too. They only have leaves/blossoms/fruitlets left at the outwards ends/tips of their branches, the Aprimira has now lost all blossoms and fruitlets on one half of the tree (the last of the leaves have turned brown and are about to drop off the tree)

They have been watered regularly to ensure they don’t dry out in the recent good weather.

Any ideas what might be the cause and the best course of action?

    Kind Regards,
    Jencat23.

Check their roots 1) for beasties (I hope this isn't the case) 2)damp (have they been getting enough water, they need a good soaking)

Can not think of what else it would be for three trees to act the same way

I wonder if the soil/compost in each container has run out of nutrients?

Thank you Norfolkgrey and Cheop. Have checked the trees roots they look fine. I will water the trees a bit more and add some feed to the solid, and see how the trees get on.

        Kind Regards,
        Jencat23.
