    Has anyone ever done this ?
    I have searched on google but with little success.

    Yes, with a plum. It worked brilliantly.

    Here is the result.

            There are two ways to do it.

            The first is to tie string to the end of each branch and then tie the other end around the main trunk, ensuring that the branches are pulled down well. The other is to attach weighted clips (or lead strips) to the end of the branches to to do the same.

            This will make the tree break bud all along the branches and these will form into fruiting spurs giving you apples.

                I read though that will only work for plums not apple trees.

                What do people think ?
