    Established Rhubarb

    Hi

    A friend of mine has a 4 year old rhubarb plant. It's a good producer and he wants rid of it.

    It currently has lots of strong fruit on but he wants me to dig it up this week and move it to my plot. Is it an appropriate time to do so? Should I remove the fruit first? Any other advice on whether it is safe to do so?

    Not a good time to move it, but if you must!!!!!! Take off all the stalks, dig it up with as much soil as possible. The roofs go quite deep. Replant it in good soil with plenty of compost to retain water. Water well until it shows signs of re growth. Don't use any stems this year, the plant needs them to build up the root.

      I moved one last weekend, totally the wrong time to do it but needs must. Just make sure you water in well.

      Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

      Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
