  • desperate to get a bilberry!!!!

I had a couple of plants on order (or so I thought) with Mr Fothergills. I phoned to query my order only to be told that despite having an order number as I ordered online there was a bit of a glitch and they never officially received my order but they now have no plants left.

I have searched evrywhere I can think of to try to get a plant or two but cant get one anywhere or even find anyone that supplies them. To make matters worse they are known by different names- bilberry, winberry, blaberry etc.

If anyone knows of anywhere that stocks these plants could you let me know please???

Bilberry is the same as a Blaeberry (only found out by reading the blurb in my catalogue) I bought my blaeberries from Poyntzfield Herbs (they have a website but you cannot order online)

There's a company in Dorset, - which sells blueberries - the name of which I can't recall , but it's something obvious like The Dorset Blueberry Company. Anyway, they stock bilberries too.

I am being cheeky on my very first posting on Grapevine but I signed up to ask about bilberries myself. I too have been trying to get hold of some bushes for ages and just wondered if you did eventually manage to locate a supplier. thanks

I'm not an expert on the unusual berries, but I was having a mooch around Simpson's Nurseries near Newmarket (Suffolk) a few days ago and they had some potted Wineberries and many other berries.

Sells them. Their other plants were very good.
