  • Cherry tree problem

Hi all. Il apologise in advance for lack of knowledge as I'm a newbie on here and I'm not exactly green fingered.

We moved into our house two years ago which has a sour cherry tree in the garden.
The first summer we were here, we had a great crop of cherries off the tree. Last year the leaves developed holes and black marks on them, and the cherries all had black marks on them.

In my ignorance I didn't do anything about it hoping that it would be ok this year. There are stacks of cherries growing but they have developed the same problem as last year.

Hopefully someone may be able to give me an idea of what this might be and if I can do anything about it?

I've attached some photos (if I've done it right).

    Thanks for reading!

Looks like a bad case of cherry leaf spot https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cherry_leaf_spot.

It seems the best thing you can do (apart from spray with fungicide regularly, which you may not wish to do) is pick up all the leaves when they fall, and also prune the tree so that it lets in plenty of light.

I live in the East Midlands, so pretty average.
