    Calamondin fruit producing roots

    A few of the fruits on my calamondin dropped off the plant onto the surface of the soil in its pot. I picked them up a week later to dispose of one, only to find that it had sprouted some roots. Is what they would do in the wild?
    I have since moved the root-producing fruit to its own pot, and after another week or so, the fruit is rooted to the soil! Bizarre. Is this normal???!

    The seeds are inside the fruit (think of orange 'pips'), so yes that's what happens.

      Its quite normal for overripe calamondins to have seeds already sprouting inside them when you eat them, grapefruit do the same, most other citrus dont seem to do it as much,
      plant the seeds in a very good draining compost somethig like compost/perlite 50/50 and they should grow into quite large trees
      Living off grid and growing my own food in Bulgaria.....

          So now one of the fruits has rooted itself well into the pot of compost, should I just leave it as it is, or take it apart carefully to get inside the fruit to tease out the germinating seeds? It now has two stubbs (horns!) trying to poke out from the top. Looks a tad weird. Think I may just leave it to see what happens!
