  • Blackcurrant advice needed!

    Hi there

Hoping some of you lovely fruit experts out there will take pity on a complete novice!
I bought a blackcurrant twig (that's just what it looked like, no leaves, nothing!) a few months ago from B&Q for 50p, just because it was there. I stuck it in a florist's bucket in some MPC, where it's been ever since. It is now HUGE! (Well, compared to what it was ).
Soooo.......what do I do with it now????
There's plenty of room in the garden for it to go in, just need to know what it's likes and dislikes are really.

    Thanks in advance!

Blackcurrants aren't very fussy. Bung it in the ground

You could wait until the winter when it's dormant, then take as many cuttings as possible (only Of brown wood a year old (which I'm not sure if you have much of), then plant them in the ground and basically have multiple plants next season, although they won't fruit in their first year.

I have about 15 rooted cuttings from mine this year. So far.
Not quite sure what to do with them all but I have some plans
