  • Blackberries not fattening up

Last month my brambles were going great guns but over the last 2 or 3 weeks (since it's turned really cold) they have come to a standstill. There are still thousands but are all still small, green buds. Do you think they will fatten up and ripen or have they had it?

I'll be so upset, last year they supplied us with masses of lovely jam and crumbles.

I think you will find no matter where you are its the same. I went blackberry picking last month and they were very small.

The wild bramble near us has been rubbish but the cultivated ones in the garden have been fab, have loads in the freezer etc so it may be certain varieties aren't doing well.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Then I would like them back immediately please TS.

The ones you've left me with are shrivelled little tastless things, but then that'll be why you left them.

Raspberry beetle can affect blackberry too, and it causes shrivelled fruits.

Or, lack of water (no, it can't be that)

            Lack of sun?
