Is anybody else growing Aromel strawberries

I've just dug up some of my strawberry plants as I didn't like the taste and was going to buy some more in to have some different varieties. I was looking at Aromel but you didn't mention the taste?
Any other's you'd recommend?

They are ok taste wise but I mainly grow them for the constant supply till the frosts. My favourite taste wise is marshmallow, they give good sized fruits with exceptional taste Sue.

I've been going through some magazines and these strawbs caught my eye!If I were to buy some could I dig them in now or where do yoou put them inbetween times? I seem to spend all my time in a flap these days who said gardening was relaxing? Jan.

If you buy plants in pots Littleweed you can plant them out any time. If you buy mail order they come as bare root plants and they send them out when the conditions / time of year is right which will be sometime from the autumn through to spring.

The bare rooted plants are usually available until the end of July - Get them in ASAP and you may get a few fruits this year, especially on the everbearers.

I bought some Aromel from Marshalls several years back and thought they were good - they made several small crops until quite late in the year - October or even later I seem to remember. The only problem with the later ones were the slugs got most of em, though I suppose they'd have done well in a more protected environment.

In between times our strawberry patch got grassed over and as all the varieties had become mixed together over the years, I didn't manage to save any of the Aromel runners, so will probably get some more now I have a new spot for them. This year as I couldn't locate any Aromel at the garden centre, I bought three plants of Elan F1, another everbearer variety, so hope to get some runners from these in due course - happy to do a swap at some point if you'd like to try this one as a comparison?

Think I'll try a mix of both, found Marshmello in the Marshall's catalogue and Aromel in the Dobies one, I seem to have all early varieties so would be good to be able to extend the season.
Also two catalogue purchases means more seeds to balance the order, or that's my excuse anyway.

They are good value for bigger quantities of seed and plants like strawbs and asparagus.

Is that taste Madasafish, yield or something else? I have marshmallow for taste but these Aromel for the trickle supply all summer.

Thanks for all the advice, what is this seed cat. I don't know it. I'm drowning under books at the mo. but if this is the holy graiol for my two fave's I've got to have it.
