  • Ants nest in bluberry tub - help please

My blueberry tub has an ants nest in it. Any suggestions on how to get rid please. Not sure if ant powder will affect the blueberries. If I leave it alone will it affect the plant?

I've used ant powder in the past. I'm still alive as were my plants (Courgettes at the time)!

Ants hate a wet nest, and from memory, blueberries like to be wet ... get watering, and the ants should move of their own accord. Worked for me after I took advice I was given on here for my greenhouse border.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day

Ants do like destroying your plants. There are some people on here that say 'Just ignore them.' But there are people who say 'Just ignore fungus gnats (thrips)'. Neither is right.

Caro is right, so is Esrikandan. (Can't you just call yourself Erisk or something that is easy to type? People call me Sarra. No not Sara.) If you like organic growing then you can't use ant powder. I just say get the little sweeties. Use both methods if you are a non-organic grower.

Think this belongs in fruit, not veg. Academic but we do like to keep a tidy forum.
Why didn't Noah just swat those 2 greenflies?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

You have to loose sight of the shore sometimes to cross new oceans

I would be a perfectionist, but I dont have the time

I'd take the plant out the tub and knock off the ant nest if you can. Then repot with fresh compost and sit in a saucer of water to saturate!
You could mix ant powder in with the compost too for a double whammy!

Thank you. I think I will go for wet (no choice really after todays downpour) and a bit of ant powder too.
