    Sometimes it is luck whether a pest strikes or not. If there are pigeons parked above your cherry trees, they are likely to try them and blackbirds may take a fancy to them.
    I've had a new bird feeder in the garden for about 4 years now and although there are squirrels about, they have left it alone - till this winter.

    Took your advice TrixC. Bought a morello cherry, and after hearing from others that coolers likely better have added a Keswick codlin apple and Belle de Louvain plum on advice of nursery. Fingers crossed they produce some decent fruit and iíll be all over the jam and the crumbles..
