  • scarifying the lawn

Hope this is the right place to post, if not let me know and ill move it x

So about 20 year ago my dad got turf laid out back this year I have raised the beds and made the lawn longer putting new seed just where it has been widened (its lovely may I add!) but the grass is full of thatch under the old grass, I cut the lawn yesterday and scarified it today, I think it will need doing in a few weeks again but what should I do from there? It is very VERY weedy I put weed and feed on to no avail! Any advice would be appreciated for a good looking lawn x

Can add pics to if you want x

Just keep at what your doing. I would scarify either spring or autumn though. With continued weeding and feeding and then oversowing with fresh seed you will get a better lawn because the grass will out compete the weeds. Regular mowing is also beneficial. You could also top dress in the autumn with a sandy compost. It will take a few years to improve the lawn. Pics would help.
