  • Out of date bokashi bran

I have a 3Kg bag of Bokashi bran stored in my garage for about 18 months now. The label says it can only be stored for up to 6 months. So after so long do you think it will not be 'active' anymore? I stopped doing bokashi when I moved house, but I have been contemplating starting it up again but think this old stuff may not work anymore. Maybe I should just feed it to my new worms, I'm sure they will happily munch their way through it as a treat.

i would try it, and if it doesn't work, then give it to the worms

I didn't even realise that it did have a sell by date (everything seems to have these days, is ridiculous but that's another thread!) and have quite happily used it for well over 6 months (we don't get through much bokashi as most of our waste can be conventionally composted) and there has been no problems. Would have thought that the only problem would be if it got damp.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
