  • How to get a greener lawn

My mate has told me watering my lawn with a dash of green food colour in the water will give me a lawn to die for. Is he having a laugh?

People who water lawns should be set in stocks and have rotten veg thrown at them. It's almost impossible to kill grass and if it's not producing a crop what's the point of wasting a very precious resource on it.

There are actually companies that paint/dye lawns to make them green, i'm not joking, look it up.

My lawn has actually stayed green during this recent heatwave & drought, while all around are parched brown deserts.
I don't cut the lawn really short; it's got a fair bit of clover in it, which stays green; I don't water it.

I recently watered about 20 pots of toms on my lawn with tom feed in (arranged in a square). The other week I was so baffled at why I had a lush green square of grass, twice as tall as any other part of the lawn.

Then I remembered I'd placed the pots on the lawn to water them

Haven't mowed since dong that, and still have this large square patch. Planning to write a message to my wife next time I water them on the lawn heh. (nothing suppy or owt - I'm thinking 'Put kettle on love' - she'll *love* it!)

A good friend of mine, now sadly departed set up an exhibition stall with a small scale version of a football pitch with seeded soil and mini pitch markings as well. The whole lot was set up in a marquee and by the second or third day the grass was looking decidedly yellow.
They decided to spray the grass with a green aerosol. He was asked by numerous visitors to the show how he kept such a rich looking grassed exhibit? Of course he answered " Its all down to the skill of the Groundsman"

It's probably something alkaline, but he helps himself to that many apples it'd cancel out the effect........

Adding a substance to the dogs water so his pee doesn't scorch the lawn sounds amazing - Dragons Den territory. Any idea what its called?
