  • Composting from the pond ?

Ive spent this morning cleaning some of the pond out, its all by the edge of the pond now for the wildlifee to make its way back in (or so I read)

I have a couple of piles of gooey like mud from the bottom, a trug full of duckweed and a trug full of an oxygenating plant (sorry I dont know its name, but it multplies rapidly and looks a bit like a soft yew tree). Once all this has dried out is it OK to put it all on to the compost heap ?

    Many thanks

    Compost away. Should be fine.

I use the green mud as a mulch.
You have to loose sight of the shore sometimes to cross new oceans

I would be a perfectionist, but I dont have the time

Pond weed is incredibly high in nitrogen, makes a great mulch as well as a wionderful fertiliser for salad plants. But I suppose you can compost it too !
There's no point reading history if you don't use the lessons it teaches.
