  • Bokashi Tea/Liquid

    Hello Folks,

How long does this last, assume it gets weaker over time?
    Cheers

I've always been told to use it straight away as it goes off otherwise but as you only get a little bit each time I haven't found this a problem.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

      Hi Alison,

I've got about 2 litres! I'm not planting much over winter so won't be using it. Just a thought but shall I poor it on my compost heaps?
      Cheers

2 litres! I don't think I get that off a bin over the couple of months it takes me to fill them!!!!! What I do get, however I use neat to clean the drains! Don't really use it on plants as I tend to use my worm tea for that.

I've been getting quite a bit off my bins but was curious what it's best used on - as general plant food or what?

I'd read it was best used immediately if you wanted to clean drains, with the implication that for plant food it could be kept but I did notice the pint of it I'd stored in the shed has settled into two layers. I was just planning on shaking it up a bit before using it, though I'm getting so much I think a fair few friends will be getting some free if they want any.

I don't get much liquid of mine (about half a cup full every few days) but it does depend on what you put in them - more green stuff = more liquid. I've only ever used mine for the drains so can't comment on the plant food bit but was under the impression that you should use it asap.

I also only get a little bit of liquid. My first Bokashi bin juice smelled fine so I did use this diluted and fed some of my house plants as well as pouring some neat down my plug holes. My second bin is just full now and the liquid stinks like sick so I just hold my breath and pour it down the drain outside.
I was also under the impression that the juice could not be stored.
