Last Of The Summer Wine Allotment

24th March 2008.

I share an allotment with Gordon and its starting to be an adventure. We have a huge plot between us and this year we have 14 raised beds and a patch that we have left for the potatoes, 2 sheds and 2 greenhouses, lots of fruit bushes and trees!
Been up today.....not much to do at all really, so came home and started sowing seeds. My peas are coming through nice. Just waiting for the weather to change so we can use our new rotovator and get our spuds planted!

Not been too good these past few days, not feeling right with my head. Yesterday was a killer.........had 10 ton of manure delivered, had to get barrow it onto plot, otherwise it would get nicked....i enlisted OH, Gordon and his grandson to help. It took ages, i also weeded but nearly killed myself, my head nearly exploded and I spent the afternoon/evening on my own in bed. I now realise I HAVE to stick to my own NEW rules, only do an hour or so......

Well the manure is now in ...

Put some fruit bushes in and the went to aldi with OH, bought loads as usual. Going to sow some more seeds and chill on the vine for a bit.

Been up to plot, had to go and have a look.......burned some old wood, put the kettle on and danced aorund the fire trying to keep warm. Picked some sprouts and kale for tea and decided to come home1 Its freezing, icy and the plot looks beautiful, especially the ice hanging on the kale.
