  • My question for Alys

    Hi Alys,

    Welcome to the Grapevine!

    My question is:
I have recently had to move a well established peony (it was here when I moved in, and was in the way of my future raised bed). When doing this a couple of the tubours fell off! Can I do anything with these, or should I just bin them?

    Thank you,
    Anna

    Hi Anna,

The tubers need to have a bit of stalk or growing point otherwise they’ll come to nothing. They’ll compost fine. In fact if they are going to grow, will do well in the rich compost soil. So you could burry them in a bit in your compost and see what happens? I often use the compost heap as a warm, rich trial ground for odds and sods that I’m not sure if they are going to come back or not.
