    Well, yesterday really...

    Got all my seeds out and put together a planting/sowing plan for 2008. It's surprising how much one accumulates over the year! Then took a walk to the Allotment with pencil and paperto plan out where everything will go this year. All the while hoped that 2008 will be better than 2007!!

    Managed to get on the plot yesterday, but only to get some veg as the weather forcast is a bit iffy for the next few days. (nothing worse than trying to dig out parsnips from the frozen ground) Managed to get parsnips, carrots, leeks, sprouts and a cabbage, not a bad selection for this time of year.

    I went to B&Q and bought the following:

    * a button mushroom kit (can't wait to see what this does if anything)
    * a 75L bag of compost
    * a huge seed tray.

    and I got the following potato seeds:

    * Pentland Javelin Potatos
    * Maris Peer Potatos
    * Desiree Potatos
    * Nicola Potatos

    I've got 2 of the bags of potato seeds chitting in the big tray at the moment. I could do with buying another couple of those trays for the other 2 bags and what not tho.

    Today I'm going to sort out some seeds for a seed swap for a fellow Grapeviner and tomorrow will hopefully be popping up to the lottie to plant the cheapy flower bulbs I got from Wilkinsons the other week. It's a bit too late to plant them now I think but they weren't expensive so I haven't really got a lot to lose in digging over the flower patch and chucking them in the ground. Beats letting them rot I figure. :P

    Trousers harvested 9.5kg of Sunchokes for me today, along with a few whopping Parsnips 'The Student', 7.5kg Beetroot 'Bulls Blood' and 'Golden Ball', a mini Savoy Cabbage, Leeks etc. so I'm in and out of the kitchen right now cooking Roasted Root Veg and a Sunchoke Gratin for our Supper (makes a change from Soup Shortie! last hit.....)

    Checked the greenhouse this morning and Iv'e got three little onion shoots in a 40 cell modular tray, Hoping for more in the next few days. Planted up some shallots into 3" pots. Sowed a tray of early peas and put in the propergator. Sorted out the seed box to try and get some organisation into future sowing.
    Broke down all the cardboard boxes from Christmas and put them down on the lottie paths. Dont get the shoes muddied up then, and keeps the weeds down. Planted 3 tubs of spuds yesterday, had to make do with charlottes but would have prefered an earlier variety.
