Started off some herb seeds in the propagator.
Re attached one set of automatic vents on the green house as we had a sudden spike of sun yesterday that sent temperatures in the greenhouse as high as 23 degrees.
Checked all pots and plants in green house and watered those in need of just a little drink.

    Default Sunday

Raised up my fig trees and tied them to the fence, pruned back a lavatera and noticed rot at the base (hope it will survive but if doesn't more space for the hollyhocks, presently in my cold frame), picked up cat poo and binned it (hate cats, hate cats!), pulled up some fungi and noted that my garlic was coming through.

Yesterday I built 2 raised beds up the allotment and today I have been to a potato fair. Picked up 24 assorted tubers for 15p each!

sieved my small compost heap to gain all the useable compost, got a large bags worth!

ditched the overwintered onion sets that had gone bad (trial and error!), noticed my garlic is doing really well, and eyeballed the first of many snow drops in the flowerbeds.

planning my veg in earnest now and as soon as this extra loooooooooooong month is over and i get paid its off to the seed shop for me

Filled up all the 2ltr pop bottles I have been saving, with water from my water butt. I put them in my greenhouse so that when I need to water my seeds and young plants the water will be the same temperature. This way my plants don't go into shock with icy cold water straight from the water butt.

    I do that jaxom.

The kids bought me some of those bottle top waterers a couple of years ago as a birthday pressie (their own Idea .. I was impressed!) and they are great for this as you can regulate the flow by squeezing.
