  • Plots available

If anyone lives near Lewes in East Sussex and wants a plot, there are 4 plots available. They are not listed under Lewes District Council.. Our site does restrict new members to a max of 5 rod plot until they prove that they can maintain them before being allowed to go on to 10 rod.

A 5 rod plot will cost you £15 due at the end of this month

If you are interested then PM me and I will give you the name and phone number to call.

I like " Our site does restrict new members to a max of 5 rod plot until they prove that they can maintain them before being allowed to go on to 10 rod."

    That's a great idea!

It sure is... I consider myself to be a fairly fit fella (mid 40's, when I'm not having one of my joint attacks lol), but I have found it very hard work getting my plot into shape. Mine is a bit bigger than a 5 rod. I knew that running a plot would be hard work but not quite as hard as it has been tbh. Another issue regarding taking on a plot is having enough time to regularly visit and get enough done while your there! My wife hasn't got involved and has been very understanding when I have to spend nearly all of my days off getting the plot prepared and straightened out... I love it but it is a very big undertaking... I think everyone should be restricted to 5 rods until they work out whether or not they can cope. Just my opinion of course.

I totally agree Chris, Our site now only allocates half plots & I was given a half plot last year which to be honest it is enough for me to comfortably manage.

          I'm amazed

Just been reading our local rag and a feature was written about waiting lists for plots in Brighton..... Over 2000 people are on the waiting list including people that have been waiting since 1999!!!

I live about 5 miles from there yet I only waited about 8 weeks... Seems a bit odd to me? Maybe I'm missing a point somewhere? I appreciate that reporters tend to exaggerate a bit? I'll post a link for anyone that may be interested in the article: Want an allotment? Join Brighton and Hove's 2,000-deep queue (From The Argus)

Has the GYO bubble burst? There are 9 plots available out of 75 on the site where I have a plot in Hall Green in Birmingham.Or is it down to the fact rents have risen from £10 for a small plot to £30!!!in just two years.Largest plot now £90.00.
