Post Looking to grow in London SW17

I'd really love to find some space to grow vegetables, fruit & a few flowers around the Tooting Bec area - all options considered since local council waiting lists are Huuuuuuuge!! Private allotments, shared space etc all of interest and any help gratefully received. Thank you

There must be a lot of people with large gardens who don't have the time/skills/youth/health to make good use of it. And many other people without gardens, who do have the time/enthusiasm/skills/youth/health to make good use of that same space.

The difficulty of course, is finding the right combination of people and circumstances that would be a good match. Have you already looked at local gardening groups? And if there aren't any, you could even start one on facebook.

And how about the NextDoor website? You could introduce yourself there and be lucky to find a matching neighbour not far away and come to a mutually beneficial arrangement.

There was a Landshare scheme that Hugh Fearnley-W was involved in, but unfortunately, I think that is no longer in operation.

And also, how about volunteering at local community gardens? From your postcode, I think both Tooting and Streatham are not far from you?

    Good luck

Thanks Chris, I contacted Tend and Lend (the Hugh FW initiative you mention) and will check out your other suggestions too
