last year i went on the waiting lists for pampisford road and sanderstead allotments

phoned croydon council today to find out how far up the waiting list i am - he said there were about 40 people in front of me - but he didn't ask my name .... and then suggested i might want to move to another part of the country .....

I'm in Bromley and there are some huge waiting lists for the sites in my area.

The allotment co-ordinators get a lot of calls from people at this time of year and don't have much control over what goes on. All of the allotments in Bromley are self-managed, so you have to call individual people about the sites. Not very helpful, to be honest.

i've contacted sutton - waiting for a call back (thats how they operate) - i'm hoping they have a plot at roundshaw - that's the closest to me - and i really don't want to go too far from home cos i'm quite a busy person and won't get loads of time for an allotment at the mo

We are bringing two parcels of Land into plots at ASWLG in Shirley and this will be let as 1/2 plots.

We have 20 people on the list at present but once the new ones go into production these people will all be catered for. And already this year we have had a few leavers.

Let me know if you want to go on the list and I will get you added.

We are about 15 mins from Purley.

We have a shop, flush toilets, canteen (bacon sarnies etc), Licanced Social Club, Parking,

cheers NOG - the 15 mins from purley thing is ok at the right time of day - nightmare getting through selsdon tho sometimes and being self-employed single parent, time is precious!
i'm trying for roundshaw right now - still hoping for even closer to me!
if all else fails (hopefully should know within a couple of days or so) then i might well take you up on the offer!
            cheers

Which side of Bromley are you? The site just off Glebe Way, West Wickham usually has a few plots going spare. I used to hold there, Dad has my plot now I live in Coulsdon.

                Hi,

I live in Forestdale and am looking for a half plot in an allotment. Can you advise on the current waiting list please.

                Regards

Your best bet would be New Addington. Last time I was there they had free plots. AWSLG is Full with 40 on the list. Park Hill is full,

The only other one with free plots is Edenham...but its just a field...no toilets, water hut....which is why there are free plots.

Well they will be out of luck if they are looking round Shrublands...as there arn't any. The nearest allotments will be in Bromley (who have a 13 year waiting list). The nearest Croydon Council Allotments are New Addington or Edenham

No the council will say thanks and give the plot to the next person o the list.

I have an allotment at the West Wickham site next to Glebe Way (access from Hawes Lane). I joined the list this time last year and got a plot within two months (13 year list sounds like a urban myth). Because it's a big site (192 plots) and they are pretty hot in turfing people off that aren't keeping their plot up to a certain standard their list moves pretty quickly. It's a friendly site with a active trading shed, water taps, loos and sheds etc. Worth popping in on a sunday morning 10.30 to 12.30 when you can have a look around and ask any questions. Worth bearing in mind for people in croydon living nearby as I don't think they would reject your application just for living over the border. You can always try anyway - contact details can be got from Bromley Council.
                          Happy hunting chums Xxx
