  • Allotment waiting list Hedon - East Yorkshire

    Morning everyone,

I'm on a waiting list for an allotment in Hedon (Parish council look after not east riding).

Just wondered if anyone else is hoping to get one and we could get together and apply some pressure.

Also wondered if anyone knew of any private allotments in the area.

    Thanks a lot

I'm down the road from you and on the E.Riding list and the Beverley Town list. On the E.Riding list I'm 190th, waiting for one of 17 plots which go out at the rate or perhaps one a year. I'll be long gone by the time I reach the top of the list. I keep asking what they're doing to get more land but keep getting fobbed off. The Beverley Town list has me down at about 90th and reckon on a three-four year wait. Again, they never answer awkward questions.

My next recourse is to start quoting the Allotments act to both them and our local MP.

Don't you need 6 ppl? even then though I don't think they need to rush! my email is PM me if I can help.

I don't care if its council run or private but can't seem to find private allotments in area?

Well, you need 6 people to apply for land in writing. Both lists have to be applied for in writing so I reckon thats knocking on for 300 people expressed an interest in writing for both lists.

I'm in an East Riding village with 12 plots on privately owned land. I know I'm jolly lucky to have half an allotment - it's really dead men's shoes here! The nearest council plots to me are in Hull and I think they're all full. I had one there 10 years ago before we moved here and I was on a waiting list for that for a while. I'm sure it's worse now.

mad isn't it. I've just rang up Hedon parish council and spoke to a very snooty lady who told me that i'm now 15 (was 12 in line when I put my name down! so don't know whats happened there) and they've only let one go this year!!! no plans for new site or anything.

I haven't expressed an interest in writing, just rang up... do you reckon that is worth doing?

Written requests are probably filed - there's no record of a phone call. Might be worth a go.

                  Hedon Allotments

                  Hi

I have been on the waiting list four six years now and have not progressed up the waiting list very far. At present I have an allotment at Ryehill. They are run by Thorngumbald Parish Council.
