  • This will make you larf!

I've just received a letter from the local council saying that after an inspection my plot shows no sign of cultivation and that I have until April 2013 to sort it out. Now I know I've not been down there for a couple of weeks, I can only get there on a Sunday at the best of times, but clearly they didn't see the planted fruit trees, the pak choi, broad beans, cabbages, cauliflowers, leeks, comfrey and stuff in the greenhouse, or the bits I had forked over and covered with tarpaulins. It makes it even more laughable when you consider that I had to wait for almost three months after taking on the plot because the local council took all of that time to remove some asbestos and a burnt tree. Still, I have to laugh otherwise I shall just weep into my coffee and mince pie.

I'd query with them if they have the right plot!

It's happened on our site; they've got the number's mixed up or something similar, and when the plot holder asked to meet the Council on site they've realised their mistake and contacted the correct plot holder!

Even if they haven't ask them to meet you so you can show them what you've done!

It does make you wonder if the even looked at the right plot, I'd do like alldigging says and go see them armed with your photos.

The person writing the letter probably has little or no gardening knowledge.

Sadly no photos. I'm just treating it as a joke for the moment.

I've tried ringing them today but I think they must all be out spending the council tax payers money on their christmas lunches

Ask for their advice as to what other winter veg they would expect to see planted in mid December. Also how much of the plot should be planted up at this time of year. I think as said before they've got the wrong plot. Send some pictures and see what happens.

Didn't you put some photos on here when you took the plot on? or am I confused? If you did, you could remind them of the state of the plot then and show them how hard you've worked on it so far.

I also recollect (which is a rarity for me) reading some posts about asbestos and a burnt tree.

I'd say it must be the wrong plot. Having spent over an hour today looking at different plots, few of them numbered, I could see this happening very easily!
