  • What is it?

I got behind in digging my plot last year and have just got around to an area that was knee high in grass and weeds, as I'm turning over the soil I'm finding alot of these pupae. They look like sweet corn, same colour, does anybody know what they are? are they bad? if so how will I get rid of them? and can I grow anthing there?

Looks like sweetcorn? Doesn't ring any bells with me: again, any chance of a photo?
