  • straw as winter covering over plot?

    HI,

I have got hold off a massive straw bale, I was going to use it as ground cover as my plot (although the old guy had it 40 years!) is suffering from weeds, I removed them all in the autumn/spring but thought this might prevent, so as I harvest I will mulch.

I have heard it might be home to wireworms, I seem to have them all over the plot, spuds have suffered...

    any help gratefully received
    I'll be SLACK!!!

I'm here for a good time, not a long time

I use it all year round. Doesn't seem to encourage nastys but it does keep the weeds down and the moisture in.

Have a look at SuperSprouts allotment.
