    Paraffin Heater Fumes-Do They Cause Harm??

    Hi everyone, trust you are all well.
    Thinking of using the paraffin greenhouse heater to heat the shed a little now winter is approaching.
    May sound daft but could the fumes cause any harm to anyone in the shed at the time??

    When I was a kid we used paraffin for domestic heating so unless the shed is very small and there is no ventilation or you are planning to sleep in there I wouldn't worry. The main problem will be condensation of the water produced when burning paraffin - hence the need for good ventilation.

      Paraffin emits carbon dioxide apparently, and can cause breathing problems in some people. Mr TS says he isn't allowed to use them at work because the filament is too radioactive (the science bit went over my head though)

      They smell horrible too don't they?

          Paraffin heaters do stink a bit and you could take the smell home with you if you aren't careful.
          As TS say's they do emit a lot of Co2 gas which is good for the plants, but also a lot of water vapour which can cause fungal problems at this time of year if used in a greenhouse!
