    Neighbourly etiquette

    Hi all,

    Just wondered what the general feeling is towards the following scenario:

    My neighbour's raspberry suckers are coming up on my plot. I have dug them up as I didn't want them where they are growing. I don't see the neighbours very often at all to offer them back. I have potted them up and I am wondering whether I just plant them in my raspberry patch to fill in some gaps or whether I should leave them on my neighbours plot with a note.

    I think you should plant them - after all they came onto your plot. But leave a note too, so that your neighbour knows you didn't pinch any from his plot!
    Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

      I'd plant them where you want them, but leave a note for your neighbour saying, 'I hope you don't mind, but I've dug up the raspberry suckers that were growing through onto my side and used them to beef up my own raspberry bed. When the suckers (inevitably!) come up again next year, would you like me to pot them up for you?'

        If they are coming up on your plot, they are now yours. It's not like windfall apples or broken branches that have fallen into your plot. These plants are actively growing in your plot.
