    Came accross this while "SURFING".

    Allotment Legislation
The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

Thanks, that's interesting. I've been interested in trying to get an allotment for a while, but OH wasn't keen. Now we've just bought a house with a largeish garden (we only have a back yard in our current home) and he's getting more enthusiastic about veg growing.

But all of the allotments near us (and we don't want to have to drive for half an hour to get to one) are full, and they've even closed the waiting lists. So they don't even know how many people want allotments in our area.

I think I'll wait and see how we get on in the garden for a year or so, and if we can cope OK with it and get reasonable results, I'll try and get the 6 signatures and present them to the council. Of course Liverpool is broke. It's not so very long ago (well, maybe 20 years) that they sold off local allotments and now there's bungalows on them. Grrrr! And don't even start me on the development going up on the site of the International Garden Festival!

What's happening on that site maggie - I remember going there when I was kid, then it changed into that pleasure island rubbish and then it just seemed to sit there.

I'd heard they were going to turn it into a botanical garden??
