  • I may be getting an allotment next week!!!

    Hello to you all,

I've been on a waiting list for an allotment for two years now and have just heard that some have become vacant near to where I live. I am to go along on the 7th October to meet the council chairman and have a look at the plots! It's all very exciting!

I've never had an allotment before and have only grown tomatoes and strawberries in my garden (and leeks this year!) so don't really have a clue what I am doing but am keen to learn!

Can't stop thinking about what I will do with it if I get it!

Will be asking for advice from you all!!

    Best wishes, Sharon

    Hi Sharon

You must be so excited after such a wait - we a e lucky where I live because there are loads of vacant plots so I was in within 2 weeks of making the enquiry.

You will have to let us know how you get on at your meeting next week - fingers crossed that it all goes well.

      Hi
Exciting isn't it!! We've only had to wait about 6 months so hasn't been too bad - keep fingers crossed!

Hi Sharon, finger crossed for you and welcome to the 'vine!

We were fortunate that there was no wait round here, so have had our plot for 2 weeks on Sunday, its now looking a lot better than it was only 12 days ago! May even get something planted this weekend!

              Hi Sharon and welcome.

Good luck for the 7th. Loads of advice here re getting one and what to do. Take a look at Shortie's "I haven't got one yet ..." thread for things to think about and questions to ask.

We were also fortunate with no long wait but that's changing down here. Go for it!
              Bright Blessings

There are a few vacant round here aswell so I'm going to look tomorrow and choose one. Can't wait to get cracking either and reap the rewards.

Thanks sharonmd, its been hard work but very rewarding and huge fun, I hope you find it just as good when you get yours!

We've been down there for the past 2 days, just about finished renopvating the paths and edging boards, cleared our first bed and actually managed to plant some overwintering onion sets! Whooohoo!!! We got growing things!
