    Dorset allotment

    Hi everyone my name is Tom

    I'm currently in my second year of allotmenting with little to no previous expierance and and hoping to start this thread as a sort of diary come useful reference to others.

    As the thread is titled im situated in Dorset, I managed to get on a plot which already had a large fruit cage and lots of raspberrys.

    I will post some pictures from last year and my progress, I did have some success but also lots of failures.

    I look forward to your comments and any pointers along the way would be appreciated.

        Here are a few pictures of the plot when I first got it, then a couple are of the first few beds planted with over wintered onions and garlics, plus my new double compost bin.

          And here are some more photos of the first beds, also I replaced the rotten timbers to the cage and put a new door on etc.

          I planted 3 types of garlic last year, Solent Wight, red chesnok and White Casablanca all of which produced good bulbs, today I have planted the cloves which I had saved from last year!

          I also planted two types of onion sets which were radar and North Holland blood red.much to my surprise Both types grew to the envy of other plot holders and we're still eating now.

          Then the bad news arrived that plans were drawn up to move our allotment site to makeway for houses and a new school. Much to our annoyance! With this bad new to be honest I lost interest in my plans as I really wanted a long term plot.

          Now on the bright side when we move I will have a virgin plot which I can tinker and grow to my delight.

            Plot looks good but it's a shame about having to move. When do you move?

                Hi Welcome to the Vine, are they offering to move sheds greenhouses etc and paying any compensation for the loss of produce etc?

                    Hello Tom & welcome to the Jungle, love the plot design. I would be pig sick if I had to move after doing all that hard work.
