  • Does anyone have an allotment in Hull?

    Hi

I'm a newbie so I thought I would just say hello to everyone, seen as I've been following you friendly bunch for a while. I'm on the waiting list for an allotment at a site in Hull and was just wondering if there is anyone else on the Vine who has an allotment here as its always useful to get the lowdownl

    Hi vanessa, welcome!
I'm not in Hull, but in N Yorks, so not a million miles away. Hope you're not too long on the list - I waited nearly a year for mine, but kept popping down to the site I was on the list for and chatting with anyone handy. Also kept an eye on which plots weren't having much done on them, and pestering (very politely of couse) the secretary about whether they were vacant or not?! I'm pretty sure I moved up the list a little faster than I should have done, so it's worth a bit of your time to keep visiting I should think.
    Good luck

        Hi GF!

I'm sure one of the vine regulars, Johnty Greentoes has a plot in Hull, and know he'll be along sometime soon to let you know!

My OH, Mr D is originally from Hull, and his folks still live over there, so we do pop over that way a few times a year!

Good luck with getting a plot, you wont regret it at all! Oh, and a warm welcome to the madhouse know to the inmates as the 'vine! Hope you enjoy it as much as the rest of us grapes do!
        Blessings

I'm not far from Hull - technically in the East Riding but my post code is HU. I grow veg in my back garden but I've been so fired up and energised by these lovely people here that I asked to have my name put on our local allotment list too! It is a bit of private land owned by the parish and there is a short but allegedly stastic waiting list. Some people have 2 or 3 allotments so it's a case of waiting for them to give one up.

Welcome to the grapevine - loads of advice and lots of laughs too.

Hi GF and welcome to the Vine! As you have probably already gathered, everyone is very friendly and has a wealth of advice, tips and help - so dont be backwards and coming forwards and asking any questions you may have! Good luck - looking forward to seeing how you get on. Bernie

              Thanks

Thanks to everyone who replied to me no one likes to be a billy no mates! Congrats to Flummery on her 'Member of the Month' and yes I am sure I will be asking lots of questions. Hope the allotment comes along soon, my small concrete back yard is so full of fruit and veg growing its a bit like a mini jungle with very little room, so it would be nice to have a larger area to plant out.

              Thanks

              Vanessa
