  • Chicken pellets

after the recent outbreak of bird flu i was informed that the disease can live in the droppings of poultry if this is the case how safe are these pellets or raw poultry manure to use as a fertilizer on our plots ? ? ?

Although I speak from a position of complete ignorance, I would think that the danger of catching anything nasty from the chicken manure rates right up there with the chance of being hit by an asteroid, or winning the Lotto jackpot.

    IMHO

Completely ignorant here too but I would have thought that droppings from known infected birds would be incinerated and not processed into fertiliser

Pellets are heat treated so should be ok....as for raw you would have the same chance of catching something nasty from any amimal waste.
