  • Can anyone recommend a perinnial plant that grows fairly tall and wide?

    Hello

I recently got an allotment and moved house and am
aiming to make my small garden entirely edible. I don't know very much about veg and fruit growing but I'm so excited about learning.

Our front garden is currently shielded from the road by a big bush and I'd like to replace it with something edible (actually I'd like to replace it with a row of compost bins but my boyfriend won't let me).

Can anyone recommend something that'll grow about 2 foot tall and wide? Basically like a bush but edible.

    Thanks,

    Rochelle

If the front garden was edible around here other people would come and eat it.

are you worried about traffic pollution on the edible? diesel particles etc. Me, I'd rather have a fence or hedge (or fedge) shielding my veg somewhat

: ) We're slightly off the road and shielded so hoping this won't be a problem. Also I plan to plant things that most people don't know what they are, like globe artichoke and fennel for example. Hopefully this will work.

It's not a very busy road and the bush I'm looking to replace is just off the road anyway. What's a fedge? I get it's probably a mix between a fence and a hedge but how would you make it?
