    Fingers crossed
Never test the depth of the water with both feet

The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory....

Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.

Might be sooner than you think Jen. Did they say how long the waiting list is?

When I asked he said there wasnt a waiting list as such its more when people give one up or pass away (which is usually the case). There is about 4 round here one of them I live directly opposite and I know there is 2 on there that isnt used, so might be lucky and get one of them. Quite excited

As you all know, I got an allotment last week.

          It took me one year.

However, I was told the waiting list was around 2 - 5 years!

What I do find strange, is that there are several plots that are just empty, albeit overgrown....

Yeah its the same over here, the two thats spare I know one of the owners passed away so its going begging but apparently they cant do anything till the family rings the council and hands it over or his lease expires.

Im thinking if I just get a little one I might just grow potatoes on it as they take up a lot of room so cant really do any in my garden unless I get more soil. What was on your allotment when you got it chilli_grower? was there a shed or greenhouse?

Well, as you may know, I viewed mine and signed on the dotted line for it on sunday 12th Jan

Me and the 'missus' viewed 2 plots.

One was 6 perch, and severely overgrown, no shed or anything, just lots of overgrowth, and no clear lines as to where one plot started and another finished.

Whereas the plot we have now is just 3 perch (12x5)m, perfect.

THere is a tiny shed there, that is the size of an outside toilet, and 2 quite large compost 'areas'.

It appears to just be the luck of the draw....

I have a greenhouse at home, so that is sorted...

We are only going to grow onions, potatoes and beans on ours.

I dont really have a clue what I am doing, I am just having a go!

I only got a plot after four years but like you say on our site there are two over grown plots because the owners are too busy so there served with a warning and if they tidy it up then they go back to the same state as there plot was in the trust have to start again and give another 6 wks notice and so the cycle continues. I think it's a disgrace, esp as there are genuine people who want to grow things. To make things worse one person who is like this is either side of me on the plot and one has a no dig policy the other weeds come through the fence it drives me mad.
