  • Allotment Security?

Last year we had our shed destroyed by fire. Approx loss £1500 for shed and contents. The arsonist was known to us but we were unable to prove the person had done it as we had no CCTV footage. It seems every crime now has to be backed up by CCTV or the police won't investigate.

I have been to our plot again this afternoon and found somebody has tried to kick the gate down. There dosn't seem to be any damage or anything missing, but it got me thinking again about security. I have looked at wildlife cameras and wondered if they would be any use or would they be stolen. I know they have infra leds on the front so would be easy to spot at night.

Has anybody used these or should we be looking at another option. I know man traps are illegal but the thought is tempting

Have you considered dummy cameras as a deterant.

Some bush cams have higher frequency infra red LEDs that don't glow red so they are invisible at night. They are a bit more expensive though.

I need to prove who it is that is doing the damage, if it is who we think then we need evidence.

I have had a look at cams with low glow infra red and this one seems to be very reasonable. If we have any more issues then I think this will help us out.

We tell folks on our site not to lock sheds and not to keep anything in them thats worth much.

My shed has a mottey collection of tools I have bought from car boot sales. They are much more usable than new tools but don't look worth nicking!

It's time we brought back the birch. What better than a family day out on a Saturday morning at the clock tower watching unemployed layabouts getting birched.

......sounds like a typical Saturday morning in our village, Cheops ...... except it's a gathering of the village Godfathers in the Village Hall Car Park ....... passing judgement on those who have avoided the Annual General Meeting and drowning all the local witches in the local sewage works .........

we had an issue at out allotment area last week some mindless thugs set firs to a shed which they broke into another shed nicked the petrol to start the fire ,this shed had a lawnmower in which by the time the fire engine etc got there the shed was gone and only the metal left of the mower, best of it was they actually left pop crisps and biscuits behind talk about having a party!!! ive looked on ebay at shed alarm they are not to pricey the alarm seems to be loud and can be heard in 100ft but if only setting fire seems abit pointless ,grr at the moment just want to get hold of them and give them a good old fashion good hiding ,the poor bloke is totally gutted
