    I tend to use anything that isn't seeding as a Chip n Drop mulch/manure

    I've just pulled up the phacelia, some grass, old leeks, dahlia stalks, corn stalks etc
    And leave them on the beds until I'm ready to plant.
    They stop new weeds from germinating and keep moisture in the soil - mulch

    I've started some alfalfa off indoors so I'll work out where I want that at the weekend.

    Won't start with squash for a few weeks or I won't be able to get in the greenhouse by May

    ^Will you be transplanting it? That seems like a lot of work. Me, I sow direct for ease.
