  • 1st year complete! So far so good!

I can't believe how fast the year has gone! I got the plot on 12th June and it was a mess! It hadn't been used for a few years and was shoulder high with weeds and grass. I set about clearing it, digging it all over, making raised beds and adopting a no-dig approach to gardening.

I've tried to keep a photo diary of it all to document the transition and to hopefully inspire any new allotment holders that start out with a plot like mine, or worse. You can turn them around, it just takes time and hard work. Follow the link in my sig.

I harvested my first crop of new potatoes and garlic today and they were amazing. Shop bought new potatoes or garlic don't come close!

Thanks to everyone on here that has give advice and tattieman for his choice on seed potatoes.

Wow Andy - what a transformation; you must be immensely satisfied. The photo record is a really good idea. I've done a few and am taking the camera down today. You forget the detail don't you!
