I do try to attract wildlife with insect friendly plants and pond and have a variety of usual wildlife, including bats, but we were surprised with our latest visitor. We haven't had a hedgehog for years. So very surprised and happy, to see this big hog in the last evening and again this morning

    How lovely!!

If you can catch it, do check it over for ticks and remove them...it would be help with it's over all health

Are you going to encourage it to hang around a bit more by feeding it?

Very strange to see him out in the daylight though? I would catch him and de-tick too and give him some food. S/He may have babies.

          Thanks

There is already water available but we'll nip out and buy some non-fishy cat food. Is that the best?

Yes, non fish flavoured cat food is best but you can use dog food. Even the dry biscuits are ok.

Be careful the food doesn't attract vermin.

That's exciting KayJay, I'm sure your insect friendly planting and pond has helped to attract it. Lovely to see.

When they know it's being offered they will eat the lot fast so it's not hanging around long. They really are greedy pigs!
