| been "umm-ing and ah-ing" about that, would love to encourage him but we have loads of cats in the area and I wonder if it might just encourage them instead?

| I'd love some hoggies visit me, I'd be worried about the brassy nets though and more worried they'd get to where the doggies are allowed ![]()

| Aren't they lovely Lainey Lou. I had them in my last garden (we moved house in February). We're more or less starting this garden from scratch although the house is 110 years old - amazing how little garden existed, survived or whatever. I was worried that we wouldn't have the birds and wildlife we had before. But the bird varieties are quite good , and what did I see last night, right at the kitchen door YES a Hedgehog. I look forward to the day when I can hear them snoring under the shrubs and see the little baby snowballs - well that's what the younks look like.

| i haven't got any hedgehogs, even when it was wild out the back there were none, we don't have any rabbits either, in fact we don't have much widlife except birds a squirrel and a fox. it seems quite strange considering we are so near the countryside, but i'd really love some.

| I have had three hedgehogs in my garden this summer. I knew they were there because my dog started barking madly at them. there are no really good hiding places in my small garden so I picked them up and transferred them to a friend's garden who has loads of tortoises and an animal friendly garden. Very sad for me but no alternative (I am not getting rid of the dog !). I am sure they are in my garden because the council has been clearing allotments that had gone wild behind my garden and made the poor hedgehogs homeless. |

| I've lived at my present home for 12 years and the wildlife has definitely decreased. We used to get frequent visits from hedgehogs and squirrels, but not anymore. I can't see any reason for the decline. Do hedgehogs visit gardens more when Winter is drawing near? Or do we notice them more because it gets darker sooner so they are out earlier? |

| not seen one hedgehog on the island in the 6 years i have been here, We get foxes, badgers and the odd red squirrel now and again and the birds are just beautiful. Only this morning had a green woodpecker in the garden, he frequents my garden a lot |

| That's a lovely photo Dobby! We've only seen one hedgehog this year, I think there are definitely fewer around here each year. They'll probably start hibernating soon as the nights are starting to get a bit colder so I don't think there's much chance of me seeing one now until next year.

| You shouldn't worry about cats hurting hedgehogs! We had two cats and many many hedgehogs at our my house, not one hedghog got hurt! The cats usually got close enough to get their nose spiked and then tought bette of it!! ![]() I love hedgehogs, that's a great pic of the family btw! ![]() |

| I didn't see any hedgehogs for a couple of years, but last year we saw one, this year probably four, so I'm happy again! Haven't caught sight of them for a couple of weeks, but every morning there's a track across the lawn and it disappears somewhere under the rhubarb and finally into the depths of an unruly border!

| I've found 3 hoggy poos on the lawn recently, but I have no idea where the critters are coming from or going to. It's too cold to sit up and wait for them. I think they're trying to make friends with my guinea pigs, who must look like cousins.

| Not sure what you mean by brassy nets, but dogs shouldn't be a problem (or cats for that matter). Hedgehogs roll up into a ball when they feel threatened (prickles out). My dog dug up a whole strawberry bed one night trying to get at a hedgehog. Hedgehog fine, dog filthy, and strawberry plants all over the lawn. |

| I`d love to have hedgehogs in my garden as in the summer it was full of slugs. But as some of you may know my dog Storm likes to run around the garden with them in her mouth. We have to get them off her and put them out the front. We had one last week that was very small so I took it next door to my mum and dads and they put it in a rabbit hutch in their greenhouse and are feeding it cat food and worms. |
