Bird damage Hi
I have returned to gardening after a few years of living in a house without one. Originally from the Fylde Coast in Lancashire we now live in South Yorkshire. We moved to our new home with a large garden just before Christmas and are well on our way in reconstructing our very neglected plot.
We have a hardening off area at the rear of the house with all sorts of plants stacking up and everything was fine until this morning when I found a large number of Bizzie Lizzies in cells had been damaged by what are obviously birds. lots of plants have gone, many more are damaged and others pulled out.
We are designing our garden so it will be wildlife friendly and have established feeding areas for the birds and have kept these well stocked over winter. We are well aware that birds will pull up onion sets and have a couple of wood pigeons who have been feeding off our brassicas. What I've never come across is birds actually taking well established bedding plants, pulling them up, yes but these plants (about 24) have vanished.
Is this a new trend or peculiar to this area anyone have an answer?
