  • Bat poo ID??

Does anyone know a good site to be able to ID what bats we have roosting above our hen house?

Every morning there are dropping on a stone directly below a hole in the eaves.
I understand they tend to do a poop before going to bed?

These droppings are much larger than I'd expected for a bat..almost 2cm x5mm.
There are about 20 of them, so could they be females ???

I've had a good gooogle and they are certainly not rat droppings- way too big!...and I'd love to know what species of bat we have there.
I already know we have long eared bats in the garage but this is larger poo.

Any suggestions where I compare piccies please...(or maybe someone knows already??)

Jeanie- I know you are our resident bat gal...any ideas please???

I have batterer bats living in the hollows in the conker tree in my garden. Not sure if it's any help as it you may have different species in France??? But I was told that the Pipistrelles (think there are a few of them) favour barns/houses to roost.

Pipistrel droppings are like mouse droppings. This sounds more like a mini pterodactyl!!!

Is there a bat society near you Nicos ? my late brother studied bats & said droppings weren't definitive, better is to get a device that listens to & identifies them from their calls, as good ones are inhibitively expensive to buy (his was near £1200 ) it is generally an interest group purchase
