    Another insect ID please

    My son found this in a bowl in his kitchen cupboard. Thinking it was a caterpillar he gave it some lettuce, but he's worried it might be summat nasty instead - it apparently has only 6 legs - at the front - and a long thin hairy body that drags after.



    (They're worried there may be more lurking in the flat)

    Thats a biscuit bug larvae and yes where there is one there will be more ...

    they eat waste food like cereals and grains and even dead skin. its a sign they need a deep deep deep clean and check all rice cearals etc

                He has deep cleaned his cupboard but can't force his 5 flatmates to do the same. They're all in the middle of exams at the moment so the rota has been suspended but he cleaned as much of the kitchen as he could without invading other people's spaces.

                    Are they not shocked/concerned about this?

                    I shared a flat, and we had a bad infestation of clothes moths, in the food and the wardrobes. No, I couldn't get everyone to clean properly either: they wanted to believe the problem came with the ethnic supermarket we used, not their own (lack of) food hygiene.
