I was down the lottie at the weekend and saw my Robin. I call him mine because he's always about over winter and I try to leave him some nice juicy worms on the surface. Even have a picture of him sitting on my spade handle somewhere.
Surprisingly, he wasn't on his own which was nice because he always sang as if looking for his mate since there were two. Personally, I was just surprised to still see them in April. What's the latest anyone else has seen robins on their plot? |

See, now therein lies my ignorance - I didn't realise they left!

Some are resident all year and some migrate - some of the ones you're seeing at the moment are probably on their way over from Scandinavia!

sorry but I never heard about Robin migrating
![]() at least in France they are the kind of bird that stay...actually that's why they are so territorial, to keep their space for nesting! if they actually migrate they would have done so before spring or in autumn...cause the reason for migration of birds are or to be in a better weather in winter, or to prepare the nesting in a colder area... (I was ornitho crazy as a child ) |

Ours are permanent - and of course, drop dead cute. It must be an evolutionary advantage looking gorgeous (no Wayne, I DON'T mean you!) because you get the crumbs.

Hi, we recently left an upturned wheelbarrow on the allotment over a small pile of manure. We then saw 'our' robins bobbing underneath it. We assumed they were eating the worms & grubs, then yesterday when we lifted the barrow to use it, & there was the female sitting on 5 eggs in her nest!! We were worried that we had scared them off, but they were soon back!!
Bit worried that they are nesting on the ground & also I need to strim, move stuff around the lottie etc. Still, bought them a tub of mealworms yesterday to keep them happy! Fantastic to have the nest though & can't wait to see the babies. |
