Default Toad Hall

I have a small pile of damp rotting logs (rejects from winter fuel deliveries)

I thought I could stack them by my raised beds in the hope of attracting a toad or two.

Just wundered if this would be counter productive as a nice home for slugs and snails also

I can see where your worries are but I have a couple of log piles on my lotties and they do work. If you dont have amphibians, at least you know where a chunk of your snail problem will be hiding.

I agree - providing a habitat for toads and frogs is a great idea, and snails will find somewhere to hide whatever you do. Personally I find snails prefer smooth surfaces like the undersides of flowerpots, rather than rough bark.

I tend to mix large stones and logs in together, just to give them a bit of variety and hopefully therefore encourage a variety of wildlife.

and if you manage to attract some toads, they'll eat the slugs up for you!

Anyone got one of these? Always think they look fun, but are they a suitable toad habitat?

The problem with the Toad House is you run the risk of upsetting the frog community who may not feel welcome.

one would think that by now, nowaypedro ,they would have learned how to share, just in case that is not so,lol, i am wanting in encouraging more wildlife onto my lottie,so would be interested if a toad house would work,if so,how about a suitable size clay, plant pot, with a doorway of course, and a welcome sign above
