        It's comfrey rust, I get it on some of mine although Bocking is meant to be more resilient. Doesn't seem to cause any problems with using though even though I've heard some people say you should destroy any effected plants.

            To be fair I hadn't until a year or two ago and did some investigation via google. At first glance it looked like a thin layer of spray paint it was so vivid. Not had it that bad since but always get a bit, apparently it's a sign of stress but it still produces loads. Probably effects the nutrient ratios but heaven knows how and a load of it chopped up under my fruiting veggies as well as smelly tea works really well.
