  • Vinegar as a weedkiller

I have just read that vinegar works as a good weedkiller as changing the ph balance of the soil can kill weeds. Has anyone tried this? Maybe it depends what weeds you want to kill off as to whether it will work?

Boiling water works too... good for the weeds in paving slabs.

Never heard of using vinegar. What sort of weeds do you want to kill, and where are they?

We have a patch of land at the bottom of our garden that has not been used for a long time - it was covered in black plastic when we moved in which should have warned me....we took off the plastic and loads of alkanet has sprung up - I keep pulling it out but it has long tap roots. It says on wikipedia that alkanet doesn't like acidic soil so it might work.
